Legacy Tree — Austin, Texas

New Live Oak Brings Fresh Life to The Park

Indeed Tower’s Park serves as a hub for Austin’s community events. Central to this space was a 50-foot heritage red oak tree, a symbol of Austin’s history since the 1940s. Despite best efforts to preserve it, the tree had succumbed to rot and needed to be removed. DPA worked with a landscape architect to find a fitting replacement. DPA also collaborated with a local family-owned sawmill to repurpose the tree’s wood into meaningful furniture pieces, preserving its legacy at Indeed Tower. Fields of native oaks in West Texas were scoured in search of the perfect replacement for the beloved tree. DPA collaborated with construction teams, arborists, and various specialists to successfully install the new red oak tree, breathing new life into The Park.
